Challenging the exclusion at the independent review panel

Challenging the exclusion at the independent review panel

This stage of the School Exclusions Hub covers appeals to the independent review panels and reconsideration of an exclusion by a school's governing board.

The family can ask for the exclusion to be reviewed by an independent review panel if the governing board declines to reinstate the young person.

Independent review panels cannot direct that a young person be readmitted to school, but they can direct a governing board to reconsider an exclusion again.
