Excluded but not Unheard

A Coram Voices in Action Zine from creatives who have been excluded from school but have never lost their voice.

READ THE ZINE

“Exclusion isn’t the end. For many of us, it was the start of a different journey, the path that led us to each other. That’s what the Coram Ambassadors are: we rise, we fight. We’re not here to beg for a seat at the table. We’re building our own.

Hope is resistance. It’s turning pain into power. It’s choosing to rewrite the story for those coming after us. We are the proof. The voice that says: you can get through it, you can find your people, and you are so much more than a label.

The next chapter is yours to write.”

“I was looking up information about provision of alternative education for young people excluded from school. This is very helpful information.“

“The resources have been really helpful in brainstorming arguments for our client. I especially like that the suggested wording documents highlight relevant excerpts of statutes and guidance as this means less searching on our end.“
Student volunteer, City School Exclusion Service
“It looks like it's got some very helpful information, particularly the step-by-step guide for written arguments. I wish I'd noticed it before our hearing with the governors, but at least I can use it to prep for the IRP! It's certainly a valuable resource to have access to.“
Student volunteer, City School Exclusion Service
“I found the 'Suggested Wording' documents particularly useful as a quick way of seeing how individual requirements from the guidance could be interpreted and applied in practice.“

“I have used the resources on Coram's School Exclusion Hub regularly and have found them to be thorough and persuasive.”
